Hi everyone.

I have a really desperate situation. A senior woman that I know is in a care facility and it has been decided that she will not be coming home. This little guy has been surviving with the help of a neighbor, who comes in every day to walk and feed him. This has been going on for about six months or longer with the hopes that the woman would be coming home. The 80+ year old lady who has been taking care of him is leaving on Saturday and will no longer be able to help out. If a home is not found for him by Saturday he will be going into a shelter and we all know what that means.

Tibet is a Chinese Crested and quite the little clown, as well as being really, really cute. He likes to hop around on his back legs. I believe he is about 7 years old and he has had his shots and is neutered. If anyone can help out, even on a temporary basis while a home is being found, it would be really appreciated. Did I say he was a real cuddle bug????

Please distribute this email to anyone you can think of. Thank you so much for your help.

A couple bad apples . . . well, more than a couple. I pick up my dog's poo, even when I'm on my mountain bike in Redwood. I hope they choose to enforce the current and proposed 200-feet leash laws rather than continue curtailing access for those of us (the majority) who clean up after and can safely control our dogs...

One has to conclude that this is all premeditated and part of the master plan to eliminate off-leash dogs from the trails without looking like it was planned. Force dogs and horses to share a limited number of single-track trails where they both used to be able to run free and be animals. Force professional dog walkers onto even fewer trails and wait for problems so they can even further restrict their use. It's the same old story folks. I had a horse owner at the serpentine prarie get off her horse and say some things to me the other day. I couldn't hear her but she clearly wasn't pleased with me or my dog. Both my dog and I were at least 20 yards from her and her horse... I rarely go up there anymore even though it is the closest off-leash park to my home. It's not the same since the fence went up. How about forcing the horse owners to walk their horses in certain areas where dogs run free? We are disregarded as the enemy. It surprises me as I would think more people in law creation and enforcement would have animals and would support our animals. I mainly go to the Bulb now but it appears the same thing is happening there. Soon rules were surface and as the rules are broken, dogs will be eliminated. It's really sad.

Email I just sent

**************

I STRONGLY support a Dog Park at Lake Merrit

I live at golflinks/880 in oakland, and have an 8 month old Malamute puppy. We bought our house here 3 years ago, in large part so we could ford a backyard large enough to have a large dog.

We are regular visitors to the Point Isobel dog park (in contra costa county) . A usual visit involves a stop at the cafe at the park, and (often) a visit to businesses in nearby Richmond (Joannes fabrics, various others).

We ALSO regularly go to Livermore, and the several off-leash areas there. If you take a visit to Livermore you can see a thriving walkable downtown on first street, filled with pet owners spending money at outside cafes, pubs, etc, with none of the alarmist issues dog haters bring up.

Let's face it, the folks who can afford to own dogs in this economy tend to have decent amounts of discretionary income, and I would prefer to see that money spent locally.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me, at mickm@cisco.com. Please feel free to republish this missive in it's entirely.

Respectfully,
Mick Magill
