When the Cypress freeway came down after the Loma Prieta earthquake, West Oaklanders suddenly saw sunlight where there were once shadows. Real trees were found in what once was a
concrete jungle....Dog owners took one look at the trees and the newly "daylighted" turf around them and decided it would make a great dog run.
Here's how to find it: cruise down Mandela Parkway where it currently dead ends into 32nd. Beyond all the road construction is a little Oasis....just waiting for pups. Rumor has it there maybe a little underground spring beneath it all. And best of all, it's only a few blocks from Pet Co in Emeryville.
